I-15 Plane Crash: Woman Killed, Pilot Seriously Injured When Plane Hits Car Near Pala
Many reported seeing the plane crash onto the highway.
One person was killed and five others injured when a plane crashed into a car on I-15 North in San Diego County Saturday morning, officials said. The crash occurred on Interstate 15 north near State Route 76.
According to North County Fire spokesman John Buchanan, a passenger in the back seat, identified as a woman in her 20s or 30s was killed when the single-engine Lancair IV landed on the freeway around 9 a.m. The pilot of the plane suffered life-threatening injuries while his passenger was not seriously injured.

California Highway Patrol Officer Chris Parent told the San Diego Union Tribune the plane landed in the slow lane then slid to the shoulder, where a 2015 Nissan Sentra was parked. The driver had reportedly stopped on the shoulder to sync his Bluetooth with his vehicle when the car was struck.
Three others in the car suffered non-life threatening injuries, Buchanan said. A fuel leak at the site of the crash was contained. The northbound side of the highway remains closed and traffic is also backed up on the southbound side, according to CHP.

The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the crash.

UPDATE: One person was killed after a small plane crashed into a car on I-15 North, a CHP official told the Associated Press. Five others were injured in the crash. According to the FAA, a single-engine Lancair IV landed or crashed on I-15 near Highway 76 and struck a car around 9 a.m.
Two people were onboard the plane. The person who was killed was reportedly a passenger in the car.

A small plane has reportedly crashed into a car on a San Diego freeway, according to the CHP incident log. The crash occurred on Interstate 15 north near State Route 76.
There is currently no word on injuries.
Several witnesses reported seeing the crash on Twitter.
