Here are the top stories today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton:

  1. It was a scary flight for passengers aboard a small plane that was forced to make a water landing near the beach in Carlsbad on Thursday morning. The plane was headed to Orange County when it left San Diego, but engine problems resulted in an emergency landing. The pilot and two passengers were rescued without any apparent injuries and the incident is under investigation. (Patch)
  2. Did you experience damage from the recent storms? In order to assess the level of storm damage, the County Office of Emergency Services is asking for the public's help. "People whose property or small business was damaged by storms between Dec. 29, 2022 and Jan. 17, 2023 can complete a damage survey form." The county will use the data to determine if our area qualifies for disaster assistance; however, completing the form is not a guarantee that you will be eligible to receive disaster assistance. If the storm damaged your property and you need immediate help, other local services may be available through www.211sandiego.org. (County News Center)
  3. Oceanside residents had a chance to share concerns over a proposed "giant" warehouse near the Oceanside Municipal Airport, when the developer held a community Zoom on Tuesday. The proposed warehouse would be located on nearly 30 acres at Benet Road and Eddie Jones Way. "Plans for the space include more than 100 semi-truck terminals, around 600 parking spaces and a nearly 600,000 square foot building." Residents expressed concerns over noise, traffic and potential pollution of the nearby San Luis Rey River. "The city of Oceanside says the application still has to be completed before it reaches the planning commission." (Fox 5 San Diego)
