Police Seek Tips In Oceanside Gang-Slaying Case

OCEANSIDE, CA – Authorities asked the public Wednesday for help in finding a documented gang member from Oceanside who allegedly went on the lam after shooting another man to death two summers ago.
Edgar Hernandez Saavedra, 29, is wanted in connection with the slaying of Miguel Luis Castillo, 29, on Aug. 20, 2016, according to Oceanside police.
At about 2 a.m. that day, the two men were arguing in front of Saavedra's apartment in the 800 block of Langford Street when the suspect allegedly pulled a pistol and shot Castillo repeatedly.

Saavedra disappeared following the shooting and has remained at large since, according to detectives, who say he should be considered armed and dangerous.
The suspect, known in gang circles by the nicknames "Little Edgar" and "Smalls," is a 5-foot-6-inch, roughly 175-pound Latino with brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who may be able to help investigators track down Saavedra is asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or contact the agency online at sdcrimestoppers.org. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
