Poway Titans dominate Division I Wrestling Tournament

Willauer-Contributing Writer-San Marcos High School-San Marcos, CA 2-10-24: The Poway Titans currently ranked number 1 in the state of California and 4th in the country again proved to be dominating the sport of wrestling as they finished in first place with 415 points, 14 finalists and 12 champions. The Poway winners were Arseni Kikiniou at 106 a 13-5 major decision over Emilio Escobar of Granite Hills. At 113 Edwin Sierra defeated a very competitive Abram Cline by a 1-0 score. Robert Jones followed with a 3:45 fall over Carlsbad's Roman Zelenka at 120. At 126 Billy Townson recorded a fall in 5:16 over Jayson Suetos followed by Gavin Navida's fall over RJ Villegas of Rancho Bernardo.
Paul Kelly followed with a forfeit win over Layronz Fraser of Granite Hills at 138. At 144 Mario Carini defeated Marcus Cano of Rancho Bernardo 5-1. At 150 Laird Root followed with a technical fall victory over Sergio Porras of Granite Hills score was 16-1, Jack Estevez at 157 defeated Ryan Carroll of Granite Hills 7-1 Angelo Posada's 1:42 second fall over Junior Bumanglag of Granite Hills for the 175 pound weight class.
Dominic Dotson's 7-4 win over Mason Walsh of Carlsbad at 190, Robert Platt's forfeit win over Granite Hill's Joseph Smith at 190
The improved Eagles of Granite Hills High School finished in 2nd place with 293 points with 1 champion and 9 finalists with Collin Guffey at 165 defeating Poway's Aliaksandr Kikiniou by a 7-0 score.

There were 9 championship finals between Poway and Granite Hills
At the end of the Division I Tournament 2 Wrestlers were awarded the Sportsmanship Awards that went to Collin Guffey from Granite Hills and Rob Platt from Poway
