Pregnant Woman, Baby Die After Oceanside Crash

Breaking: The 35-year-old victim was five months pregnant, Oceanside police said.

Oceanside, CA -- A pregnant woman hospitalized as a result of a rollover crash Sunday in Oceanside has died, as has her baby, Oceanside police reported Tuesday.

Oceanside resident Carey Disanto, 35, was flown to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla about noon Sunday after emergency personnel found her unconscious and partially ejected from a Toyota Tacoma truck that had rolled over on Oceanside Boulevard, just east of Rancho Del Oro, said Oceanside police Sgt. Rick Davis.

Disanto, who was five months pregnant, had suffered a head injury, Davis said. Her baby girl was delivered at Scripps, then flown to Rady Children's Hospital. Sadly, Disanto and her infant daughter both died Tuesday, according to the sergeant.

The driver of the truck, 35-year-old Adam Robey, survived the collision. He was briefly hospitalized for minor injuries, the sergeant said.

The Oceanside Police Department is continuing its investigation of the crash.

"Based on witness statements and physical evidence at the scene, it appears that a Toyota Tacoma truck was traveling eastbound on Oceanside Boulevard when it lost control for an unknown reason," Davis said. "It appears the driver over-corrected and hit the center median where the vehicle began to roll and ultimately came to rest in the westbound lanes."

Anyone with information regarding the incident should call Accident Investigator Gabe Cobian at 760-435-4989.
