Pure Water Oceanside Gets Visit From Consul General of Denmark

Water Technology Day 2021​ included Denmark's Consul General, Minister for the Environment of Denmark and a team of Danish water experts.

OCEANSIDE, CA — As Pure Water Oceanside prepares to go online early next year, the facility is gaining worldwide attention for the advanced water technology that will soon create 32% of Oceanside’s water supply.

Last week, Water Technology Day 2021 was held at the City of Oceanside’s San Luis Rey Water Reclamation Facility in the Pure Water Oceanside center with international guests that included Denmark’s Consul General, Minister for the Environment of Denmark and a team of Danish water tech experts.

Oceanside Mayor Esther Sanchez and Water Utilities Director Cari Dale welcomed the Danish delegation to the global networking gathering of water experts and advocates.

The moderator of the event, Cristina Ahmadpour, President, Isle Utilities Ltd North America, introduced the speakers including Lea Wermelin, Minister for the Environment of Denmark, who commented that “The Oceanside Pure Water plant is world-famous and a brilliant example of what California cities are doing to optimize resiliency and to be prepared for growth and future challenges."

The networking event culminated with the signing of a collaboration agreement between the Danish Water Technology Alliance represented by Denmark Consul General Morten Siem Lynge and the San Diego Regional Water Tech Alliance represented by Gabriele Schubert, Vice President of the San Diego Regional Water Tech Alliance.

After the signing ceremony, Dale led a tour of the state-of-the-art wastewater purification facility, the first of its kind in San Diego County. Pure Water Oceanside uses ultra filtration, reverse osmosis and advanced oxidation to purify recycled water. “We’re pleased to collaborate with Denmark on a shared vision for a climate-resilient water sector.” said Dale.

About The Danish Water Technology Alliance (WTA - DK)
The alliance is based out of the Consulate General of Denmark and builds bridges between the North American and Danish water sector with the aim of sharing know-how and fostering collaboration. Through our local visits, the WTA - DK provides specialized knowledge about Danish solutions, covering water distribution, water resource management, wastewater treatment, and sewer systems, as well as smart water systems.
