Here are the top five stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

  1. Not many are celebrating the record-breaking heat that is scorching our area. The heatwave broke records across the region, including 98 degrees at Oceanside Harbor on Thursday, smashing the previous high of 81, which was set in 2010, according to the National Weather Service. The record-setting heat has been paired with hot, gusty Santa Ana winds. But there's relief in sight as cooler weather approaches this weekend. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
  2. San Diego County Crime Log: A look at some of this week's police, fire and courtroom stories from across San Diego County. Carlsbad Masseur Accused Of Sexual Assault, Ex-Marine Sentenced To Prison For Sexually Abusing Child, Man Arrested In Friend's Death At Fallbrook Home, Three armed men attacked five people in a home invasion in University Heights (Patch)
  3. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County recorded its largest decrease since March 24, 2020, Friday, dropping 2.9 cents to $5.849, its 10th consecutive decrease. The average price has dropped 16.9 cents over the past 10 days, including 1.5 cents Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The decreases follow a 35-day streak of increases totaling $1.274. (San Diego Patch)

  5. On April 4, at about 7:45 a.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to a home in Fallbrook for medical aid. Upon arrival, deputies were advised by the fire department that a man was deceased with signs of trauma to his upper body. The Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility of the investigation. The circumstances and motivations are under investigation. The victim's name and manner of death are being withheld for investigative reasons. (Press Release Desk)
