Retired Camp Pendleton Marine Breaks 2 Planking World Records

CAMP PENDLETON, CA – A retired Camp Pendleton Marine and fitness professional who has broken 10 world records shattered another two this week. George E. Hood, who is 60 years old, beat the Guinness World Records for longest continuous plank and most cumulative plank time in a 24-hour period.
A Facebook live feed followed Hood throughout his journey to break the records Wednesday and Thursday at Indian Boundary YMCA of Metro Chicago in Downers Grove, Illinois, where he serves as fitness director.
The event, which was sanctioned by Guinness World Records, raised funds to support the YMCA and Urban Warriors, a program through which veterans coach Chicago children who have been exposed to trauma and violence.

In all, Hood planked for 18 hours, 10 minutes and 10 seconds, breaking the record of 16 hours.

In addition to serving in the Marine Corps, Hood worked as a special agent with both the U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service and Drug Enforcement Administration. He previously lived in Carlsbad before relocating to the Chicago area and joining the Indian Boundary YMCA.
