📢 The Oceanside Chamber will hold its 14th Annual North County Health & Wellness Fair on August 11 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. The North County Health Fair is free to the public and a great way to receive information, meet a new health specialist or learn more about healthy living. Here are the top four stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:
- Oceanside City Council member Christopher Rodriguez has announced he will not run for re-election to his District 2 council seat this November. Rodriguez lost two elections in two years, including when he ran for mayor in 2020 and was defeated by Esther Sanchez. Recently, he ran in the June primary election as a Republican for the 49th Congressional District seat held by Rep. Mike Levin, D-San Juan Capistrano. In San Diego County results, Rodriguez finished third behind Levin and Republican Brian Maryott. As many as five other people have expressed interest in seeking the position. The candidates include recently retired Oceanside Fire Chief Rick Robinson, who was endorsed last month by the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce's political action committee. (San Diego Union-Tribune)

- The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Saturday for the 52nd consecutive day since rising to a record, decreasing 3.2 cents to $5.455, its lowest amount since March 7. The average price has decreased 91.8 cents since rising to a record $6.373 on June 15, including 2.3 cents Friday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It is 12.8 cents less than one week ago and 73.4 cents lower than one month ago, but $1.106 more than one year ago. The average in Oceanside has decreased even more with prices as low as $4.95 per gallon, according to GasBuddy. (San Diego Patch)
