Sailor Struck By Helicopter Blade At Camp Pendleton

The sailor is in critical condition.

CAMP PENDLETON, CA – A Navy sailor is in critical condition after being hit by a helicopter blade at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, military officials announced Friday.

The sailor was struck by the spinning rotor of a UH-1Y Venom helicopter at about 6:10 p.m. Wednesday at the station, said Marine spokeswoman Capt. Morgan Frazer. The incident happened while the aircraft was on deck.

The sailor, who is assigned to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, remains in critical condition at an area hospital, Frazer said.

The Marine Corps is investigating the incident. No further details were available.
