The Salvation Army Oceanside Block Party Set for Saturday
"Rock the Block" will include a back-to-school giveaway.

OCEANSIDE, CA — The community is invited to come and "Rock the Block" on Saturday, Sept. 10 during a neighborhood block party hosted by The Salvation Army Oceanside.
The festivities from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3935 Lake Boulevard will include live bands, an open house, lunch, activities for seniors and a water slide for kids. Additionally, there will be free haircuts for children and more than 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to be given to children in need.
The event gives community members the opportunity to learn more about the services and programs available to them, including after-school youth programs, food and groceries, worship services, programs for seniors, art classes and much more, according to a news release.

“Having a block party gives us the opportunity to have fun and establish a community presence,” said Capt. Julius Murphy, administrator and pastor of The Salvation Army Oceanside. “We want members of the community to know that we are here and we are here to help.”
