Here are the top five stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:
- San Diego County Crime Log: A look at some of this week's police, fire and courtroom stories from across the county. A woman pleaded not guilty to charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. A 31-year-old man was arrested on charges of hitting a motorcycle and driving away in Vista. A driver attempting to enter the country at Calexico had 43 packages of fentanyl in his gas tank. (San Diego Patch)

- The Navy christened a massive huge ship in San Diego on Saturday in the name of Camp Pendleton Marine and Medal of Honor recipient John Canley, the first living Black Marine to receive the highest medal the nation gives for extraordinary acts of bravery. During the Vietnam War, Canley did the unthinkable as enemy forces turned their guns his way and scrambled into the open, scaled a wall and guided wounded Marines to safety as close-quarter fire echoed in everyone's ears. - Camp Pendleton firefighters are monitoring the Whiskey Impact area fire on the base. As is the nature of the area, Marine Corps training takes place in those areas. The fire started as a result of training exercises. NCFPD spokesperson said the Fallbrook area could see smoke from the Whiskey Impact Area. (Fallbrook / Bonsall Villlage News)
- Thousands gathered at two separate rallies in downtown San Diego to protest the Supreme Court overturning of Roe v. Wade on Friday. A group of about 150 to 200 people gathered at Waterfront Park Saturday to demonstrate against the decision to overturn the 1973 decision legalizing abortion throughout the United States.
