San Diego County Sheriff's Department: Hit And Run With Injury - San Marcos

On September 3, 2021, at about 2:38 AM, the Sheriff's Communication Center received a call of an injury collision between two vehicles at the intersection of Las Posas and La Mirada in the city of San Marcos.  When deputies arrived on scene, they observed an unoccupied silver Chevy sedan in the northbound lanes of Las Posas Road on fire.  A second vehicle, a white 2003 Acura was off the roadway on the northeast corner of the intersection.  The Acura sustained major damage to the rear passenger's side. The preliminary investigation revealed the following information.

The white Acura was crossing the intersection from eastbound La Mirada onto the Grand Plaza Shopping center when the silver Chevy sedan was heading northbound on Las Posas Road.  The Chevy sedan broadsided the Acura on the right rear passenger side. The driver of the Chevy sedan fled the scene of the collision on foot. Sheriff's Deputies checked the area for the suspect, but they were not able to locate anyone.  An adult female passenger and a juvenile male passenger from the Acura were transported to Palomar Medical Center with serious injuries. The San Diego County Sherriff's Department  Reconstruction Team responded to assist with the investigation which is ongoing. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs was a factor to this collision.
