🌱 'Citizen Scientists' Study Sand + Still No Train Service North
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton.

Happy December, everybody! It's your host of the Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Daily. Let's get this Thursday started off with a quick review of what's going on these days in town, including:
- 🎄 Annual tree lighting ceremony is tonight.
- "Citizen scientists" of Save Oceanside Sand collect beach data.
- See how Oceanside and North County voted.
But first, today's weather:
Drizzle. High: 61 Low: 48.
📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

Here are the top stories today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton:
- Save Oceanside Sand has teamed up with Scripps Institution of Oceanography to provide some "citizen science" and will collect data about the movement of sand on local beaches. "All of the data collected by 'citizen scientists' of Save Oceanside Sand, a local advocacy group, are transferred back to Adam Young's lab at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. There, scientists can study the data to better understand what is happening to sand on Oceanside beaches." (Coast News)
- Curious how Oceanside and other North County cities voted in the recent election? Turns out Oceansiders voted similarly to other cities in the county with a few minor differences. "From cannabis taxes to flavored tobacco and gambling, see how North County communities voted on the city, county and state ballot measures during the Nov. 8 election. Results are current as of Nov. 28, with about 8,700 ballots still to be counted." (Rancho Sante Fe Review)
- Train service north of Oceanside is likely to remain suspended until February. This includes all Amtrak and Metro Link service. The trains were originally shut down due to needed repairs of the tracks in the San Clemente area. "The emergency repairs began September 30th and may not be finished until February. Buses are transporting Pacific Surf Liner passengers between Irvine and Oceanside, making a long day even longer." (ABC 10 News San Diego KGTV)
