Here are the top four stories today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton:

  1. The 2022 California primaries are over and the voters had their say on who they want leading the newly redistricted 49th Congressional District that includes Oceanside. While the final votes are still being counted, incumbent Rep. Mike Levin is projected to surpass 50% of the total vote count. Republican Brian Maryott came in second with roughly 18.5%, followed by Republican Lisa Bartlett with 10.8% and in fourth place, Oceanside City Councilman, Republican Christopher Rodriguez with 9.5%. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
  2. The Marine Corps on Friday identified the lost pilots and other service members from Wednesday's MV-22B Osprey crash. All five were from Camp Pendleton. The dead include a pilot, Capt. John J. Sax, 33, an MV-22B pilot from Placer, outside Sacramento. He was a Marine for nearly six years, and received personal awards, including the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. Late Friday, Steve Sax, a former Los Angeles Dodger, confirmed that Capt. Sax was his son. (Times of San Diego)
  3. If you are looking for the positive side of news, we are here to help. Patch has sweet Southern California stories we hope you will enjoy. A pop-up Golden Girls-themed restaurant is planned; where to watch dog surfing this weekend; and monarch butterflies get some human help and the SoCal woman that returned $36,000 inside a sofa she claimed for free on Craigslist. (Patch)
  4. The full moon on Monday will be a supermoon, and it will rise around 7:35 p.m. Pacific Time over California. The June full moon is also known as the full strawberry moon, because this is the time of year that strawberries ripen. It will be quite a treat — weather permitting. AccuWeather forecasts partly cloudy skies Monday night in California, with a 66 percent chance of cloud cover. The National Weather Service predicts increasing clouds Monday night. (San Diego Patch)
