Here are the top stories today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton:
- A highlight of this year's Oceanside International Film Festival is a one-on-one interview with actress Taryn Manning, ("Orange Is the New Black," "Sons of Anarchy" and "8 Mile") on Saturday at 7:00 pm. Festival Artistic Director and Co-Director of Programming Carly Starr Brullo-Niles will host the discussion about Manning's career in TV and film. Members of the audience will get the opportunity to ask questions. Fun fact: Taryn Manning is a cousin to footballers Eli and Peyton Manning. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
- The Strand in Oceanside was closed Wednesday afternoon from Breakwater Way to Wisconsin Avenue, due to hazardous road conditions. High winds that wreaked havoc throughout the day resulted in Oceanside Police closing the road to everyone except residents. Public Works crews were working to clear the road but OPD did not say when The Strand might re-open to the public. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
- Immerse yourself in art and history at an upcoming Community Mural Workshop at the Mission Branch Library. The workshop series will focus on preserving the cultural past of the "San Luis Rey Band of Luiseño Indians." Traditional Luiseño stories will be told by elders, while muralist Gibran Isaias Lopez works with workshop participants to "translate spoken word stories into visual representations. These visual representations will help to inform the final mural installation." The workshops will be held on Fridays: March 3, March 10, March 17, March 24 and the final workshop on Saturday, April 1. (City of Oceanside)
