Male Victim Of Monday Night Homicide In Oceanside ID'd
The 25-year-old man was shot and killed near the Joe Balderrama Recreation Center in Oceanside around 10:45 pm last night.
OCEANSIDE, CA — Oceanside police have released the name of the victim from the deadly shooting last night near the Joe Balderrama Recreation Center.
According to a news release from Tom Bussey, Public Information Officer for the Oceanside Police Department, the homicide victim has been identified as 25 year old Alexis Colon of Oceanside.
Officers from the Oceanside Police Department responded to a radio call on June 7, at approximately 10:41 p.m, of a subject suffering from a gunshot wound in the 1400 block of Higgins Street in Oceanside.

Officers arrived on scene and found a 25 year old Hispanic male laying in the street. Paramedics from the Oceanside Fire Department also arrived on scene and began rendering medical aid. The man was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the Crimes of Violence unit responded to the scene to take over this investigation. This incident is being investigated as a homicide and no further details are being released at this time.

The identity of the gunman is still under investigation and a description has not been released.
