Volunteers Needed For GO Oceanside Senior Transportation Program
The Oceanside Parks and Recreation Department is seeking volunteer drivers to transport Oceanside seniors for medical appointments and more.

OCEANSIDE, CA - The GO Oceanside Senior transportation program offered by the Oceanside Parks and Recreation Department offers free transportation for Oceanside seniors 65 and older.
Medical-related transportation is provided by volunteer drivers to transport passengers to doctor appointments, prescription pickups, lab-related appointments, dental, prescription glasses, and more.
The program currently only provides transportation for groceries or medical-related appointments. To apply for our transportation program, visit the senior services section at www.oceansiderec.com.

If you are interested in volunteering as a driver for the GO Oceanside Senior transportation program, you must be 18 years or older, possess a valid driver’s license, valid car insurance, valid registration, and a credible DMV driving record. In addition, all volunteers are required to be fingerprinted and pass a background check before volunteering for the program. Volunteer drivers will utilize their own personal vehicles and are reimbursed for their mileage. Anyone interested in volunteering can visit the Human Resources section on the City of Oceanside website (https://www.ci.oceanside.ca.us/government/human-resources/employment-opportunities).
The GO Grocery aspect of the program provides two rides a day, Monday through Friday, and is booked based on availability. The senior transportation vehicle will pick up a passenger from their home and transport them to the grocery store, then transport them back to their home once they have completed shopping. Grocery shopping is limited to 90 minutes due to limited scheduling times.

The GO Oceanside transportation office is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm and on Fridays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
