Wayne Allen Bass died June 4, according to Statesman Journal obituary.
He was 81.
He served in the U.S. Marines from 1948 to 1968 and was once stationed at Camp Pendleton. After retiring, he worked for the North County Transit District (formerly the Oceanside Transit District) for 23 years, according to the newspaper.

A memorial service was held Sunday in Independence, OR., according to the newspaper.
