Woman Fatally Struck By Amtrak Train In Oceanside
A woman was fatally struck Sunday by an Amtrak train in Oceanside, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said.

OCEANSIDE — A woman was fatally struck Sunday by an Amtrak train in Oceanside, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said.
The crash occurred about 2:40 p.m. near 290 Seagaze Drive, sheriff's Sgt. J. King said.
According to the train's engineer, the woman, who appeared to be in her 30s, deliberately walked onto the tracks past the guarded pedestrian crossing.

The train sounded an alert to warn the woman to get off the tracks but the engineer said she remained standing on the tracks, facing the train as it approached. The train attempted to stop but hit and killed the woman.
She died at the scene, King said. Her name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
