Woman Found Dead In Oceanside; Suspect Arrested After Hours-Long Standoff
Before being detained, the man inflicted multiple life-threatening injuries on himself, police said.
OCEANSIDE, CA — A man suspected of killing a woman at an Oceanside home barricaded himself inside as officers arrived, prompting an hours-long standoff that ended with the suspect in custody and suffering from potentially fatal self-inflicted injuries.
Officers responded at about 9 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a disturbance in the 2300 block of Fallen Leaf Road in Oceanside, where they found a woman dead, according to the Oceanside Police Department. Investigators said evidence at the scene indicated the woman was a homicide victim.
A man believed to be the suspect barricaded himself inside the home, prompting police to call in SWAT and crisis negotiation teams. After several hours, officers took the man into custody.

Before being detained, the man inflicted multiple life-threatening injuries on himself, police said. Fire personnel provided medical aid at the scene, and he was taken to a hospital for further treatment.
His name and the name of the victim were withheld pending family notifications.
