1 Dead, 21 Migrants Detained Off OC Coastline: Report

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — A boat carrying 21 undocumented immigrants was intercepted off the coast of San Clemente Island on Wednesday, and one migrant died after a medical evaluation, Fox News reported.

U.S. Coast Guard crews and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations were called to the scene at around noon after a good Samaritan reported a possible smuggling vessel near the island, the report said.

According to the report, Coast Guard responders boarded the vessel and found a 56-year-old man who was unresponsive.

Authorities immediately started lifesaving measures but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
