1 Dead After Driver Runs Red Light, Smashes BMW In Fatal OC Crash
One man was killed and another was in critical condition Friday after a driver ran a red light in Westminster.

WESTMINSTER, CA — One man was killed and another was in critical condition Friday after a driver ran a red light in Westminster and crashed into a BMW, the Orange County Sheriff's Department said.
According to sheriff's deputies, the driver of a black Camaro was headed northbound on Newland Street, near Westminster Avenue, at about 10 a.m. when deputies tried to pull him over for fraudulent tags.
When the driver ignored the call to pull over, he ran a red light at Trask Avenue and crashed into a black BMW that was headed eastbound on the street, authorities said.

The motorist driving the Camaro ended up getting out of the car and running away, police said. When authorities arrived, they found two people who had been inside of the BMW.
A 64-year-old man died as a result of the crash, authorities said. The passenger of the BMW, a 54-year-old man, is in critical, but stable condition. Their identities were not released.

Orange County Sheriff's deputies, in partnership with the Westminster and Garden Grove police departments, later found the Camaro driver and took him into custody. His name and details regarding the arrest were not released.
Authorities did not immediately respond back for comment.
