16-Year-Old Killed By Police In OC After Stabbing Mom's Boyfriend: Authorities

The Santa Ana Police Department Homicide Unit and Internal Affairs Division, and the district attorney's office are investigating.

SANTA ANA, CA — A 16-year-old was shot and killed by police Sunday night after stabbing his mother’s boyfriend in Santa Ana, according to authorities.

Officers responded to the 3400 block of South Main Street where a person reported that his girlfriend’s son was under the influence, damaging property in an apartment and had stabbed him with a knife, police said.

Arriving officers made contact with the teen, who still had the knife, according to police.

“During the encounter, an officer-involved shooting occurred,” police said in a news release.

The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m., according to police, who said the teen was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were hurt, police said.
