2nd Disneyland Measles Case Confirmed By OC Health Officials

Another case of measles involving a person who visited Disney theme parks was reported by the Orange County Health Care Agency this week.

ANAHEIM, CA — Another case of measles involving a person who visited Disney theme parks was reported by the Orange County Health Care Agency this week.

According to the OCHCA, the person visited the parks on Thursday, Jan. 22 at the following times:

  • Disneyland Park, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Disneyland California Adventure Park, 3 p.m. to closing.

This is the second report of measles exposure on Disneyland property, with the first being on Wednesday, Jan. 28 and impacting the following locations:

  • Goofy's Kitchen in Disneyland Hotel, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, 12:30 p.m. to closing.

Health officials urged residents who visited the parks during those times to monitor themselves for measles, as they are at risk of developing the illness seven to 21 days after exposure.

Measles is a highly-contagious respiratory virus that results in a red, blotchy rash, high fever, cough and runny nose.

"The best way to protect yourself and others it to get vaccinated before exposure occurs," Deputy County Health Officer Dr. Anissa Davis said in a statement.

Officials said they are working closely with park officials to notify employees who may have been exposed.
