Winning $5M Lotto Ticket Bought In OC
A Brea man was the lucky winner after playing the Year of Fortune scratcher game.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — An Orange County man is one of three California Lottery players who won a collective $12 million from lottery games, the state lottery office announced Tuesday.
Luis Castaneda Esparza won $5 million after playing the Year of Fortune game he had purchased from a Chevron station in Brea.
“[The] player matched the same number, 36, on his scratchers tickets to win his $5 million prize,” a news release said.

The other California Lottery players who won this week include San Mateo County resident Ali Dib, who won $2 million, and Bay Area resident Baltazar Hernandez-Jimenez, who also won $5 million.
The current Mega Millions jackpot stands at $83 million and people interested in playing the Tuesday night drawing can purchase a ticket at lottery retailers until 7:45 p.m.
