ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A 70-year-old bicyclist died when he was hit by a car in Huntington Beach Monday.
The crash happened at around 11:50 a.m. at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway north of Newland Street, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Arriving officers found a 70-year-old man lying unconscious in the roadway and was pronounced dead. He was only identified as a Huntington Beach man.
The driver involved in the crash, a 20-year-old Huntington Beach man driving a Subaru, was uninjured in the crash, police said.
According to police, the bicyclist was traveling southbound on PCH and began to merge into traffic to make an eastbound turn onto Newland Street.
The Subaru was also traveling southbound on PCH, and the pair collided.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
