Gulliver's In OC To Close After Over 50 Years

IRVINE, CA — The beloved Orange County restaurant Gulliver’s is set to close at the end of June after over 50 years in business, according to The Orange County Register.

Operator Oded Mazor told the newspaper the property’s landlord opted not to renew the restaurant’s lease due to redevelopment plans.

Known for its prime rib, the old-school eatery at 18482 MacArthur Blvd. in Irvine has been in business since 1970, according to the restaurant’s website, which noted John Wayne was a regular.

“So many families in Orange County and beyond celebrated so many events, so many generations,” Mazor told the Register, noting some of the restaurant’s staff have been there more than 40 years.

Property Reserve Inc., which is operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, owns the Gulliver's site, according to the Orange County Business Journal, which added there were not yet any city records of pending development plans for the property as of late May.

The restaurant will close June 30, the Register reported, noting that while it’s possible Gulliver’s could find another home someday, Mazor plans to take a rest and a new location won’t be immediate.
