HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — A Huntington Beach woman was arrested for child endangerment when her baby was found alone in a hot car, police said Monday.
Huntington Beach police officers received a report of a child locked inside of a vehicle over the weekend.
Upon arrival, police found a baby alone in the car with windows "only slightly cracked."
Police found the child's mouth inside a nearby business, police said.
Authorities say the baby was hot and sweaty when they were removed from the vehicle.
According to police, the baby's mother admitted to leaving the child unattended for several minutes and was arrested for child endangerment. She was not identified.
The baby was released to their father, police said.
"Leaving a child alone in a vehicle, even for a few minutes, is dangerous and can result in serious injury or death," the HBPD said in a statement. "Temperatures inside a parked vehicle can rise rapidly, even with windows cracked open."
