ORANGE, CA — A 28-year-old man was charged Tuesday with murder and other counts for running over a man with his car following a fight in Orange, according to court records.
Abrahan Salvador Perez was charged with murder and leading police on a chase causing death, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, court records show.
The incident happened on Jan. 2, 2026, according to court records.
Perez did not make it to court Tuesday so his arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.
Police responded to reports of a fight about 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of South Fashion Park, police said.
Perez left the area after the fight, but a short time later he drove back and ran over the victim, police said.
The victim was identified as 54-year-old Juan Mojica Cuevas of Orange, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
Perez had been fighting with relatives of Cuevas, who was not involved in the original altercation, according to Sgt. Trevor Cullen of the Orange Police Department. Police were involved in a chase with the suspect before he returned to the scene and ran over the victim, Cullen said.
