SANTA ANA, CA — An e-bike rider was fatally struck Tuesday evening, one day after a hit-and-run crash left another Orange County e-bike rider seriously injured.
The crash happened near the Metrolink station at North Santiago Street and East Santa Ana Boulevard at around 6 p.m., according to the Santa Ana Police Department.
Video published on Citizen.com showed a silver Mercedes-Benz SUV stopped in the road, with the victim's clothing scattered in front of the vehicle, KTLA reported.
The rider was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The crash comes one night after another e-bike rider was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash at West Warner Avenue and South Raitt Street.
According to police, the force of the crash launched the e-bike rider from his bike after a vehicle ran a red light.
