Homeless Man Who Killed 89-Year-Old At OC Intersection Sentenced: Report

The man was sentenced to life in prison for killing an elderly man at a bus stop during a violent confrontation.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A homeless man was sentenced to life in prison for killing an 89-year-old at a busy Orange County intersection, KTLA reported.

Mario Anthony De La Torre, 39, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Juan Murillo.

The incident happened on Oct. 15, 2020, when police responded to reports of a body lying face down in bushes at the corner of Tustin Street and Chapman Avenue in the City of Orange at around 10:30 a.m.

According to KTLA, bystanders told police they saw a fight between De La Torre and the victim.
