ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Two pallets full of trading cards that amounted to nearly $1 million were stolen from a FedEx truck in Santa Ana, NBC reported.
The theft happened on Tuesday, Oct. 13 and was reported by Professional Sports Authenticator, which authenticates and grades collectibles and trading cards, according to the report.
Two pallets of cards were stolen and a third was disrupted on the 1600 block of E. St. Andrew Place, the report said.
The pallet contained miscellaneous trading cards, including Pokémon cards and sports.
"The estimated value at the time was $963,000; however, the exact value of what was stolen could not be determined until the remaining boxes were scanned," Santa Ana police said in a statement.
According to the New York Times, the FedEx driver left the vehicle — which was parked near Professional Sports Authenticator's shipping and receiving address — for roughly 60 to 90 minutes.
According to the Times, the driver returned to his truck to find the lock to the truck broken and packages stolen.
The robbery was under investigation by the Santa Ana Police Department.
No further information was immediately available.
