Armed Man Barricades Himself In OC Business; Triggers Closures: Police
The incident happened Sunday inside a Fullerton business, according to police.
FULLERTON, CA — An armed man who barricaded Sunday inside a Fullerton business later surrendered and was taken into custody.
The only injured party was the suspect, a man whose injuries were self- inflicted, according to Fullerton Police Department Public Information Specialist Kristy Wells.
The suspect entered a business in the 100 block of West Orangethorpe Avenue, just west of Harbor Boulevard and north of the Riverside (91) Freeway, prompting an employee to exit and call 911. Police say the man armed himself with a knife, barricaded inside and vandalized the business before refusing officers' commands to surrender. A SWAT team eventually took over negotiations and arrested him.

Wells said anticipated charges could include felony vandalism and resisting arrest, although the investigation remained ongoing and additional charges were still being determined.
Road closures on Orangethorpe were lifted, and nearby businesses reopened, although the business in which the suspect holed up remained closed.
