Arrest In Hit-And-Run That Killed Orange County Father Of 3

Nathaniel Machado, 24, is in custody on vehicular manslaughter and other charges, according to authorities.

BUENA PARK, CA — A man was charged in the hit-and-run crash that killed a Buena Park father and injured his wife of 30 years in August, ABC7 reported.

Nathaniel Machado, 24, of Anaheim was in custody as of Friday on charges of vehicular manslaughter and other charges, according to Buena Park police.

Keith Alan, a father of three young children, was driving with his wife, Tami Alan, to their favorite restaurant on Aug. 14 when the couple's sedan was struck by a red SUV. Alan died at the scene, and his wife was rushed to a nearby hospital for her injuries, police said.

The passengers and driver of the red SUV fled on foot and left the car at the scene of the incident, Buena Park Police reported.

Alan was killed the night before his daughter's birthday. His family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs and hospital bills, which had raised more than $40,000 as of this report. Alan's wife "barely survived" with the help of bystanders at the scene, according to the GoFundMe page.

"We are grateful to the tireless efforts of the Buena Park Police Department and all those involved in bringing in our father’s killer earlier today," Alan's daughter, Naomi Alan, on the family's GoFundMe account. "Although our father is gone, we finally have the chance to find peace from this nightmare."
