Baby Boy’s Rescue Story

Baby Boy was fighting for his life at the Riverside shelter while battling Valley Fever. Sick, exhausted, and struggling to stay strong in the stressful shelter environment, his future was uncertain.

But today, Baby Boy is SAFE.

This sweet young boy is only about 35 pounds and incredibly loving despite everything his body has been through. Valley Fever has already started affecting him physically, causing weakness and limping in one of his legs — something that can happen when the infection spreads to the bones or joints.

Now his healing journey begins.

Baby Boy is receiving continued medical care, reevaluation, and medication to give him the best possible chance at recovery. He also has a committed long-term foster where he can finally rest, decompress, and heal in a safe environment.

Valley Fever is a serious fungal infection common in areas like California and Arizona. Dogs become infected by inhaling spores found in the soil. Symptoms can include coughing, weight loss, fatigue, fever, limping, swollen joints, and bone pain. Treatment can take months or even years depending on how severe the infection becomes.

Despite everything, Baby Boy remains gentle, loving, and full of life. Dogs like him remind us why rescue matters so much.
