Big Rig Crash Kills Driver, Shuts Down OC Intersection

COSTA MESA, CA — One person died in a crash involving a big rig in Orange County Monday morning, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 9:27 a.m. in the City of Costa Mesa, at the intersection of Sunflower Avenue and Fairview Road, the Costa Mesa Police Department said.

Upon arrival, authorities found the driver of the truck dead at the scene. The victim's identity was not released. The big rig was found topped on its side with debris scattered across the intersection.

The crash prompted authorities to shut down the intersection for roughly six hours. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
