Boat Catches Fire In OC Harbor; Firefighters Respond

A boat was engulfed in flames Wednesday in Huntington Beach Harbor, authorities said.

The fire was reported at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, when Huntington Beach firefighters responded to a boat fire involving two vessels tied together at a residential dock in the 16000 block of Ardsley Circle.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — Huntington Beach firefighters responded to a boat fire at the city's harbor Wednesday.

The fire was reported at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, when Huntington Beach firefighters responded to a boat fire involving two vessels tied together at a residential dock in the 16000 block of Ardsley Circle, according to the Huntington Beach Fire Department.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames with help from an Orange County Sheriff's Department Harbor Patrol boat.

At least one boat sank soon after, authorities said.

A diesel sheen was soon observed after an estimated 450 gallons of fuel spilled into the body of water, authorities said.

According to Huntington Beach firefighters, the department's Hazardous Materials Team placed absorbent booms in the water as a precaution against potential fuel, fluids, or other runoff from the damaged boats.
