3-Acre Brush Fire Reported Monday Morning In Gypsum Canyon

The fire was reported at 9:55 a.m. Monday near the 91 Freeway and the 241 Freeway junction, the California Highway Patrol reported.

ANAHEIM, CA — A brush fire erupted Monday on a hillside near a boundary separating Orange and Riverside counties, quickly burning through three acres and slowing traffic for miles, authorities reported.

The blaze was reported at around 10 a.m. in the in the area of Gypsum Canyon and Santa Ana Canyon roads, in Orange County, according to the California Highway Patrol and Anaheim city officials.

Several engine crews from the Corona Fire Department worked with the Orange County Fire Authority and the Anaheim Fire Department in order to quell the flames.

By 10:45 a.m., Anaheim Fire Officials announced that the spread of the blaze had stopped, but crews were still dousing hot spots in the area.

There were no reports of structures damaged and no injuries were reported.

The flames were impacting traffic on the eastbound 91 and state Route 241, CHP reported.

CHP officers closed the eastbound 91 junction to the southbound 241 for public safety, according to CHP reports.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
