Child Dead After Incident At Wild Rivers Waterpark In Orange County

The Irvine Police Department said it does not appear that the incident is water-related.

IRVINE, CA — A child died Saturday after an incident at Wild Rivers Waterpark in Orange County, according to the Irvine Police Department.

Local fire officials also responded to the scene before the child was taken to the hospital, where they died.

Police added that it does not appear the incident is water-related.

Orange County is under a heat advisory until 8 p.m. Sunday as high temperatures are expected to peak between 90 and 95 degrees over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

"Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses," the NWS added.

First opened in July 1986, Wild Rivers Waterpark features 20 waterslides and attractions ranging from thrill rides and a wave pool to a lazy river, according to its website.
