Coroner IDs Driver In Fatal Fullerton Collision

The 25-year-old driver struck another vehicle and a pole one week ago and was killed in the crash.

FULLERTON, CA — Over the weekend, the Orange County Coroner's office Sunday released the name of a 25- year-old motorist who was killed in a single vehicle traffic crash in Fullerton.

Driver Daniel Ortiz of Walnut was identified as the victim, according to the Orange County Coroner's Office, which added that he was killed when his vehicle struck another vehicle and a pole.

The crash was reported about 10 p.m. Monday in the area of Gilbert Street and Open Sky Drive, Fullerton Police Sgt. Carin Wright said.

Arriving officers found Ortiz, the sole occupant, dead at the scene, Wright said.

Firefighters who responded to the accident scene found the car wrapped around a light pole. Investigators believed Ortiz was traveling north on Gilbert Street when the collision with the other vehicle took place.
