ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A woman out for an evening walk was fatally struck by a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed Tuesday evening in Anaheim, the Anaheim Police Department reported.
A Mercedes-Benz was traveling at a high rate of speed and its driver lost control of the car before hitting the victim, ABC 7 reported.
The outlet reported that the vehicle landed in the nearby Santa Ana River, just 50 feet away.

Two men have been detained in connection with the crash, and police are investigating whether or not alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, authorities said. They were not identified by name.
It was not clear whether the men stayed at the scene of the crash.

The incident was reported at 6:30 p.m. and police responded to the area of South Rio Vista Street and Wagner Avenue, where they found the victim in nearby brush after a search.
