Details Released On 'Vicious' Dog Attack That Hospitalized Boy

Police Thursday released more information about a woman accused of siccing her pit bull on a boy in Orange County.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Fountain Valley police released more information about a woman accused of siccing her pit bull on a boy Thursday.

The boy, who was not identified by police, was hospitalized following the attack.

Jessica Lynn Gallegosparrilla, 32, was charged June 8 with mayhem, child abuse and endangerment and assault with a deadly weapon, all felonies, according to court records.

The criminal complaint alleges the deadly weapon was a "vicious dog."

Gallegosparrilla pleaded not guilty June 8 and was due in court Friday for a pretrial hearing in the West Justice Center in Westminster.Police were called just before 10:15 p.m. June 1 to Brookhurst Street and Talbert Avenue about the boy and a man, who sustained "severe injuries from dog bites," police said.

Police declined to provide any details about the victims other than saying the boy was older than 10.

The pit bull was taken by Orange County Animal Control officials and later euthanized, police said.The relationship between Gallegosparrilla and the victims was not disclosed.
