ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Walt Disney Co. quietly settled what became the state's largest wage theft case, after the parent company agreed to pay out $233 million for a class-action law suit brought about by Disneyland workers five years ago, The Los Angeles Times reported.

According to the report, workers alleged Disney ignored Anaheim's minimum wage law — which led them to fight for back pay with interest.

"What we believe is the largest wage and hour class settlement in California history will change lives for Disney families and their communities," Randy Renick, an attorney representing the workers in the lawsuit, told the newspaper.

According to Disneyland officials, many skilled hourly roles exceed a starting rate of $25 an hour.

“We are pleased that this matter is nearing resolution. Currently, all cast members make at least the Measure L requirement of $19.90 per hour, and, in fact, 95% of them make more,” Disneyland spokesperson Suzi Brown said.
