ANAHEIM, CA — If you are a fan of Shop Disney, Disneyland Resort's online store, you'll notice some new wearable tech available for purchase. The MagicBand+ is designed to increase your magic with interactive effects, gesture recognition and even the chance to play a new game at Star Wars Galaxy's Edge.

The MagicBand+ is based upon the Magic Kingdom's original MagicBand program which was by no means this fancy. Previously, the wristband would interact with your online profile to act as both a key to enter hotel rooms and act as your pass to the parks.

The new iteration of the tech includes a colorful LED display that "comes to life" during the "World of Color" at Disney California Adventure Park and the "Fantasmic!" nighttime spectacular at Disneyland, according to Disneyland Resort Public Relations Manager Jessica Pineda.

The store shows Halloween-themed bands, Christmas-themed bands and character-based bands that retail for just under $45. Bands are also available for purchase at the park and resort properties.

"When paired to a smartphone device through the Disneyland app it unlocks personalization options such as selecting unique light colors, adjusting vibration and motion recognition settings," Pineda said.

The capabilities of the tech will scale over the coming months.

To start with, the bands can be used as your park ticket to enter, with a valid reservation, to announce your arrival at Lightning Lane entrances, providing you have purchased the option to use the a la carte line-wait option through Disney Genie+ on your app, and to play a new game at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge — Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters interactive quest.

This game guides you to find "virtual bounties" using a combination of your MagicBand+ and the Play Disney Parks app.

Our favorite part about the MagicBand+? is the ability to put the phone away for the majority of your park experience.

Your Disneyland App is still necessary to make mobile food orders, reserve Lighting Lane ride options and to check ride wait times around the park.
