Coyote Who Bit Toddler On Orange County Beach Is Dead, DNA Confirms
A 2-year-old girl suffered injuries after a coyote bit her head in Huntington Beach Thursday.
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — DNA samples from a coyote that attacked a toddler near Huntington Beach Pier Thursday matches samples from one of two coyotes shot and killed following the attack, authorities said Monday.
The unidentified 2-year-old girl was taken to the hospital with bites to her head and face after the attack Thursday night. Her injuries were not considered life threatening, a Huntington Beach Police Department news release said.

Video footage from the incident showed the coyote running toward the girl before jumping on her and knocking her to the sand, NBC Los Angeles reported. The attack was only a few feet from adults, who had their backs turned.
HBPD found and shot two coyotes shortly after the incident was reported, according to a news release.
