Driver Plows Into PCH Wetlands, Triggering Rescue And Hazmat Cleanup

The incident was reported at 8:15 a.m. Monday in the Talbert Marsh in Huntington Beach.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — A man was rescued from the Talbert Marsh after his car crashed into the protected area and partially submerged, the Huntington Beach Police Department reported.

The incident was called in at around 8:15 a.m. in the marsh near Pacific Coast Highway and Brookhurst. Upon arriving, police found the vehicle in the water and immediately started rescue efforts.

A driver was rescued from the car, police said. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was not identified by police.

Due to the location of the crash, the Huntington Beach Fire Department's Hazmat team also responded, deploying booms to prevent fuel contamination in the wetlands.
