Driver Strikes Construction Worker Overnight In Anaheim
A construction worker on Ball Road was struck on an Anaheim street overnight and fell into a 15-foot pit, requiring rescue.
ANAHEIM, CA -A construction worker was mostly unhurt after being struck by a car on Monday night. Anaheim Fire Department rescued the worker from a 15-foot deep hole he was knocked into, police say.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Ball Road and State College Boulevard about 10:30 p.m. Monday when the vehicle hit "some construction equipment, including a backhoe," sending the worker into the hole, Sgt. Lou Correa of the Anaheim Police Department said.
Anaheim Fire and Rescue crews rescued the victim and taken to a hospital where he was reported responsive, Correa said.

Police detained the driver, who attempted to flee the scene, according to reports from the scene. The cause of the crash was under investigation, Correa said.
