Driver Who Killed 3 In Uber Crash Was On Probation For Murder
The man accused of crashing into an Uber, killing siblings from Orange County, was a convicted killer, according to the LAPD.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A man accused of driving a speeding car that crashed into a fully occupied Uber, killing three passengers, in south Los Angeles was on probation for murder at the time of the crash, the Los Angeles Police Department said Wednesday.
The driver, identified as 31-year-old Gregory Black, reportedly ran through a red light and T-boned the Uber while driving at a speed near 90 miles per hour, authorities said.
Black is a known gang member with three felony convictions, including one for murder, Los Angeles police Detective Ryan Moreno said.

The crash killed three Orange County women, including two sisters.
The Los Angeles Police Department identified the women as Kimberly Izquirdo, 27, of Santa Ana; Juvelyn Arroyo, 23, of San Juan Capistrano; and Veronica Amezola, 23, of Santa Ana. They died in the collision, and three others were critically injured, authorities said.

Izquierdo and Amezola were sisters, according to a GoFundMe page created to help the family with funeral and other expenses.

According to the GoFundMe page, Arroyo was a childhood friend of the sisters. A GoFundMe page has also been set up for her family.
The crash was reported at around 5:25 a.m. at South Vermont Avenue and West Century Boulevard, according to the LAPD.
LAPD Officer Rosario Cervantes said a Mercedes driving north on Vermont ran a red light and crashed broadside into the Honda the women, a driver and another passenger were traveling in.
“He [passed] the vehicles that were stopped at the red light, doing the right thing. He passes on the left side of them, into the turn lanes and goes around them and strikes the victims,” LAPD Detective Ryan Moreno told Fox11. “And you’re talking about going 85, 90 mph at least.”
Fox11 also reported that the women were all sitting in the back seat of an Uber. According to the report, a male passenger in the front seat was injured and the female driver was critically injured.
The TV station reported that the crash was so violent, one of the women in the back seat was ejected.
