DUI Crash Kills Woman, Suspect Arrested In OC: Police
A man was hospitalized and will be arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after he apparently caused the crash, police said.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A single-car crash killed a woman in Orange County early Friday morning, authorities said.
The crash was reported in the area of La Veta Avenue and Batavia Street shortly before 3:15 a.m., according to the Orange Police Department.
A woman in a passenger seat of the car was pronounced dead and the man behind the wheel was taken to a hospital, police said.

Orange Police Lt. Mike Monjaraz told The Orange County Register that the man was driving eastbound on La Veta approaching Batavia when he crashed with the pole at a point where the roadway curves to the left.
According to Monjaraz, a California Highway Patrol officer had attempted to pull the car over earlier in the evening, and Orange police were investigating whether the CHP officer was in pursuit of the car before the crash.
